I haven't heard of infogr.am before. I like how you did your prototype on there and you gave step by step instructions on what the students were doing to do. It was helpful to me to understand your project and those step by step instructions will help the students too. Honestly, I have heard of visuwords and cube creator but I have used them very little. I like the idea of using the online dictionary and the synonyms and antonyms on an app rather than just the actual paper dictionary and thesaurus. We use a notebook right now for vocabulary. We want the students to find 2 words a day in their readings (They have to read and take a test on 1 chapter book a week) and put it in their vocabulary notebook. in the center of the page is the word and they page is divided into 4 squares ( synonym, antonym, picture, and definition and a sentence). I do 3 ELA rotatation a day and the students have computer as a rotation. I think I am going to allow them to look up on there too. When I hopefully get more iPads in my classroom I can use the app for synonyms too. So they students will have a notebook that is there to keep all this information in correct? A suggestion for number 4, the guessing game, would be to make it a matching game. Like the game I used to play when I was younger and you have to flip the cards to find the match. You could have the words and the definition on cards. Team with the most matches wins. The students have to know the definition to the word and reminder were it is if someone did not get it right before.
I like your examples of the steps and the way you have incorporated all modalities for the students to learn.
You could include a cartoon website like Rosalind used to create animations of the words or stories.
I like that the students research definitions, but to change the routine a little--they could do a word and definition matching game or other way to pre-assess what they know.
I enjoyed looking at our Artifacts with the many different ways to teach vocabulary to your students. Wordle is a good way to have them remember the words in a creative way. I also have a hard time with my students learning and retaining their vocabulary words. I think that maybe Quizlet would be another site for you to use. The students can make their own flashcards or this site www.kitzkikz.com/flashcards that is a free site and makes the flashcards for you to print. Also, another way is to use Bookcreator the students can make their stories and if they use vocabulary words correctly you can give them extra points, also the students can make origami projects they can take with them to study makehttp://www.origami-instructions.com/ . Just a few ways to help make vocabulary fun and exciting for the students.
